From Liverpool to Chalkida: A Story of Seeking Belonging
I’m originally from Liverpool, England—a city bursting with art, music, and energy. Back home, you could find a new creative experience every night of the week. You could walk into a workshop alone and leave with new friends, a half-finished painting, or a belly laugh you didn’t expect.
But when I moved to Chalkida just a few months before COVID hit, life changed in ways I couldn’t have predicted. A couple of years of lockdown and isolation made it incredibly difficult to settle, find my people, or feel like I belonged.
And yet, through that challenge, a new vision started to form: What if I created the space I was missing? What if I built the kind of creative, welcoming hub I once took for granted?
A Creative Beacon in Chalkida
That’s how the Eco Events Hub was born. Not just as a place to paint, sew, or play with clay—but as a beacon for anyone who longs for creative expression, fresh experiences, and community.
It’s for the curious souls. The ones craving something more. The people—local or international—who want to meet others, challenge themselves, and learn something new in a warm, welcoming setting.
Whether you’re fluent in Greek, English, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here.
🎨 What Makes the Hub Different?
We’re not your average art class.
Here, you’ll find a whole ecosystem of creativity under one roof:
Embroidery, mosaics, ceramics, and textiles
Painting, drawing, upcycling, and paper craft
Visible mending, nature art, and more
You’re free to explore, experiment, and find the creative practice that clicks—or do what I do and collect hobbies like treasures, flowing between them whenever inspiration strikes.
We’re also proud to be the first English-speaking creative space in Chalkida—and possibly all of Evia. That opens our doors to locals, expats, travelers, and anyone craving connection across cultures and languages.
And, true to our name, we’re guided by eco-conscious values. We reuse, repurpose, upcycle, and make things with care and intention. We don’t want more waste—we want more wonder.
💫 What Do We Hope People Feel?
Whether you come to sew, paint, or just see what it’s all about—we want you to leave feeling like something shifted.
Maybe it’s:
A new connection with someone
A reconnection with yourself
A surprising love for a material or skill
A little more confidence to try something else
We want sparks to fly. Whether that looks like a new friendship, a creative breakthrough, or just a big sigh of finally.
🎨 What’s the Space Like?
Inspiring. Quirky. Handmade with love.
I’ve drawn murals and doodles all over the walls using black Posca pens. No sterile classrooms here—just warm, playful energy and a feeling that you belong, no matter your level, language, or experience.
Everyone is welcome.
🌍 Our Vision for the Future
I want the Eco Events Hub to become a true center of creativity in Chalkida.
A place where local schools, businesses, museums, and creatives come together
A space where artists from all cultures and backgrounds can share their talents and teach others
A place of celebration, collaboration, and community spirit
More than anything, I want people to see the space and feel excited. Like anything is possible.
💬 Just Give It a Try
So many of us carry the belief: “I can’t do that.”I can’t draw. I can’t speak English. I can’t go somewhere alone. I can’t try something new…
But what if you could? What if walking through the Hub’s door was the first step in changing that story?
We’ve seen it happen—again and again. Anxious first-timers leave proud, inspired, and ready to try more.
That’s the magic of creativity. That’s the heart of the Hub.
And we’d love to share it with you. 💛
